Born in the green city of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, Maisun Ibn Monowar is a PhD student at Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan. His research is focused on space system engineering under Prof. Mengu Cho. He obtained his M.Sc. from the same university. He was awarded United Nation Long Time ( PNST) fellowship for his M.Sc. as well as PhD. He graduated in Electrical and Electronics Engineering majoring in terrestrial power system and power electronics from BRAC University, Bangladesh.
Maisun’s specialty is designing embedded systems for space applications. His proudest achievement so far has been the development of the first satellite for Bangladesh, BRAC Onnesha. Besides his studies, he promotes STEM in Bangladesh. He is also a strong supporter of open source software and hardware design. His research interest includes power electronics, automation and automated systems.
He is a general member at IEEE. During his study at BRAC University, he has also served as the president of the university’s Electrical and Electronics Club, where he facilitated student driven projects and competitions.
His favorite pastime activity is watching sunset on a beach, especially when ‘Coldplay’ is playing on the headphones. You may also find him car spotting or playing F1 on his PS4.
